Exciting Re-Pavement Work Set to Begin on Woodrow Drive in Fountain City

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Exciting Developments on Woodrow Drive!

Residents of Fountain City, hold onto your hats! There’s some much-needed construction heading your way. According to city leaders, Woodrow Drive will soon be buzzing with activity as re-pavement work kicks off this week. It’s been a long time coming for many who live in the area, so let’s break down what you can expect.

What’s in Store?

Eric Vreeland, a city spokesperson, has shared that the re-pavement project will be carried out in two phases and is expected to wrap up by the end of November. Paving crews will initially tackle segments of the road that are up to 300 feet long. The good news is that they plan to lay a new foundation for one section each day. That means daily updates and improvements for your street!

The great news for residents is that they should be able to drive on the newly laid foundation at the end of each workday, although there will be some driving restrictions during the day to ensure safety and efficiency.

Looking Ahead to Phase Two

Once the foundation work is done, road crews will move on to the second phase of the project, which involves laying two fresh layers of asphalt on top of the new foundation. Yes, more driving restrictions are expected during this phase too, but just think how nice the road will look once it’s all said and done!

Community Concerns Addressed

It’s no secret that many residents of Woodrow Drive have been voicing their concerns over the road’s poor condition for quite some time now. One local, Logan Daly, has raised issues regarding everything from reduced property values to potential car damage caused by the potholes that have speckled the street. She expressed her fears about navigating the ongoing construction as her busy work schedule doesn’t leave much flexibility.

“We all have 8-to-4, 9-to-5 jobs. So, leaving in the morning and coming home in the afternoons kinda scares me a little bit,” Daly shared. She added, “I’m scared I’m going to be stranded on one end of Woodrow and not be able to get back to my home.” This is a concern that several neighbors share, highlighting the challenges they face as the city works to improve their road.

The Road Ahead

To carry out this much-anticipated project, city leaders have partnered with the Rogers Group, a local construction team known for tackling such initiatives. Everyone in the neighborhood is hopeful that this project will not only help fix daily inconveniences but also improve the overall quality of life for residents. After all, a smooth road can enhance safety, and who doesn’t want a prettier street to pass by every day?

As the construction begins, we encourage residents to stay informed about the project’s progress and any updates regarding traffic patterns. Remember, patience is key during these times of improvement. Here’s to a smoother ride down Woodrow Drive and a brighter future for everyone living in the community!

As more details emerge, the community is buzzing with anticipation. Let’s hope for the best as we turn our attention to this exciting development in Fountain City!
