Tennessee Athletics Director Danny White has confirmed significant changes to the department’s leadership team following Allen Greene’s recent departure to accept the role of Athletics Director at the University of Pittsburgh. In a statement released on Wednesday, White emphasized the opportunity this transition presents to assess and realign the department’s strengths.
“With Allen Greene set to transition into the role of Athletics Director at the University of Pittsburgh, we find ourselves in a particularly advantageous position,” said White. “This is a prime opportunity to thoroughly assess the strengths of our talented team and strategically reorganize to ensure we continue to lead the way in college sports. These promotions clearly reflect our unwavering commitment to leadership and innovation, reinforcing the decision to promote from within.”
Among the notable appointments, Ryan Alpert has been named the Senior Deputy Athletics Director and Chief Revenue Officer. Alpert will spearhead the department’s revenue strategies, managing key areas such as the Neyland Entertainment District, business and finance, capital projects, and the Nike contract with the university.
Cam Walker, an experienced sport administrator for the Vols’ football team, has been elevated to Senior Deputy Athletics Director and Chief Strategy Officer. His new responsibilities will include overseeing compliance and legal affairs, facilities, event operations, sports administration, and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) initiatives.
Brady Hart has also been promoted to Deputy Athletics Director and Chief Development Officer, while Alicia Longworth has been appointed Deputy Athletics Director and Chief Marketing Officer. Longworth’s extensive oversight includes all external engagement units for Tennessee Athletics, focusing on enhancing the gameday experience for fans and athletes alike.
Finally, Marshall Steward has been promoted to Deputy Athletics Director and Chief Competitive Officer, a role crucial for maintaining Tennessee’s competitive edge in collegiate sports.
Tennessee’s football team is gearing up for a crucial matchup against Mississippi State on Saturday night at Neyland Stadium. The Vols are currently ranked No. 7 with a record of 7-1 and are looking to continue their success against the 2-7 Bulldogs. Meanwhile, their home game against UTEP on November 23 has already sold out, extending Neyland Stadium’s sellout streak to 20 games.
Coach Josh Heupel has expressed optimism regarding the team’s performance, noting that they currently hold a 74% chance of making the College Football Playoff, based on projections from ESPN’s Playoff Predictor. In addition, Tennessee’s recent performance, including a victory over Kentucky, has solidified their position in the ongoing playoff race.
As the Vols prepare for their upcoming games, they continue to emphasize improvement on both offense and defense. Assistant coaches have stressed the importance of growth and cohesion as the season progresses.
The reorganization within the Tennessee Athletics department promises to enhance overall operations and further support the teams as they navigate through the rest of the football season and beyond. With a solid leadership team in place, the university aims to build on its rich history in college sports and maximize its competitive potential in the years ahead.
