Knoxville Comes Together to Support Communities Affected by Hurricane Helene

Knoxville, Tenn. — The warmth and spirit of community are shining brightly in Knoxville as people come together to support neighbors impacted by the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene. With numerous efforts being initiated, three upcoming events are set to take place to raise vital funds and resources for a Cocke County nonprofit dedicated to assisting affected areas, including Hartford, Grassy Fork, and Hot Springs.

Rallying for a Cause

In a collaborative effort, Knox Pride and South Press are working hand-in-hand to organize events geared towards supporting Clean Water Expected in East Tennessee (CWEET). This nonprofit has made it their mission since 2006 to tackle pollution issues in the Pigeon River and to uplift the Appalachian communities that depend on its health.

The recent hurricane caused the river to overflow, resulting in significant flooding in many surrounding communities. Thankfully, in the aftermath, CWEET has been right there, meeting individual needs by distributing supplies and providing essential water in areas like Cosby. The nonprofit has also been collecting donations at various locations in Newport and Hartford, ensuring that those affected receive much-needed assistance.

Join the Events!

Thinking about how you can lend a hand? There’s no shortage of opportunities! Knox Pride and South Press are coordinating three exciting events that promise not only to raise funds for CWEET but also to bring the community together in a joyful and supportive environment. Whether you’re an attendee, volunteer, or vendor, there’s a role for everyone in helping make these events a success!

Calling for Volunteers

In order to pull off these fantastic events, the organizers are on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers. If you’ve got a talent to share, whether performing or managing technical aspects, now is the time to step up! Volunteers will be essential to ensure everything runs smoothly and people have an incredible experience while supporting a noble cause.

South Press is also welcoming vendors ready to showcase their products and services at the events. It’s a perfect opportunity for local businesses to engage with the community while contributing to a meaningful cause!

Drop-Off Locations

For those who prefer to contribute in other ways, you can drop off much-needed resources to help those affected. South Press and the community center are currently accepting donations, allowing you to be a part of this charitable movement, even from afar.

Together, We Can Make a Difference

These events are not just about raising money; they embody the essence of community support and resilience. Knoxville has a rich tradition of helping one another, and the spirit of camaraderie is certainly alive amid these challenging times.

Mark your calendars, lend your support, volunteer your time, or simply attend to be part of something greater. Let’s join forces to help CWEET continue the crucial work of supporting our neighbors in their time of need. Every little bit helps and proves that together, we can overcome any obstacle!
