The retired Court of Criminal Appeals judge was the guest of honor at a ceremony held at the Sevier County Courthouse, where a beautiful new portrait of her was unveiled. Not only was she the first woman to practice law at the Sevier County Courthouse, but she was also appointed by the governor as the only female member of the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals. Gary Wade, the retired Chief Justice of the Tennessee Supreme Court, was present at the event and shared fond memories, stating, “She broke a barrier. All of us were so proud of her many, many accomplishments.”

She faced her fears and apprehensions bravely, starting her law career in a place where she felt there were no other women lawyers. “I could just imagine sitting over there in that law office and waiting for a client to show up or have someone walk in and say ‘I don’t want to see a woman.’ But that never happened,” she reminisced.

Once settled in Sevierville, Ogle did more than just practice law; she became a beloved member of the community. She served on the Sevier County Board of Education for 12 years and engaged in numerous community activities. Her husband, Rex, stood by her side throughout, proudly supporting her achievements. They have now been married for 47 years, demonstrating a partnership built on love and mutual respect.

Judge Ogle expressed her hopes for the future, particularly for young girls who aspire to be anything they want. “I want every little girl to see she can be anything she wants to be,” she declared.
