Exciting Recycling Roundup Set for Knoxville on October 24th!

Exciting Recycling Roundup Coming to Knoxville!

Knoxville residents, mark your calendars for a fantastic community event designed just for you! On Thursday, October 24th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Tennessee Environmental Council (TEC) is hosting their very first Recycling Roundup right at Chilhowee Park. Thanks to generous sponsorship from Cemex and the EPA, along with great support from the City of Knoxville and Keep Knoxville Beautiful, this event promises to be a fun and beneficial way to give your old items a new life!

Bring Your Hard-to-Recycle Items!

Are you tired of that clutter taking up space in your home? Well, this event is the perfect opportunity to declutter while also doing your part for the environment! Residents and individuals from the surrounding areas are encouraged to gather those hard-to-recycle items that you usually don’t know what to do with. You can bring a wide array of materials:

  • Electronics
  • Tires
  • Scrap metal
  • Mattresses
  • Food and beverage glass bottles
  • Selected Styrofoam
  • Pet supplies
  • Eyeglasses
  • And much more!

If you have confidential documents that need to be securely disposed of, there will also be secure paper shredding on site! Just think of the impact you could make by keeping all that waste out of landfills.

Your Convenience Matters

This event is free and open to everyone, and anyone willing to drive to Chilhowee Park is welcome to attend. TEC is dedicated to reducing illegal dumping and litter throughout Tennessee, and this Recycling Roundup is one of many fantastic events they’re organizing to spread awareness about responsible waste management.

Abby Schneider, TEC’s Recycle Tennessee Program Director, expressed her excitement, saying, “These Roundups make it easy and convenient for residents to recycle. We look forward to providing an opportunity to educate community members with recycling resources that they may be unaware of.” So, whether you are a recycling pro or just starting out, you’ll find plenty of helpful information at this event.

Want to Get Involved?

If you’re interested in being more involved, there’s also an opportunity to volunteer! Volunteers will be helping with various tasks throughout the event, and it’s a great way to connect with other community members who care about making a difference. Plus, two lucky volunteers will be chosen to receive either a Cemex Conservation & Nature Book or a $25 digital gift card to the Knoxville refill store, Knoxfill!
