“There is a conversation at the state level to be able to unlock their balance sheet,” Boyd noted, hinting at potential avenues for funding. “If they’re able to do so that could provide some additional funding, so there is hope about how we can fund this but it’s going to take some new innovative thinking about how we manage our balance sheets.”

Among the university’s list of priority projects, a new chemistry building has taken the top spot for state funding requests. Earlier this year, UT Knoxville marked the beginning of two new dorm building constructions, which is a fantastic step towards accommodating all these new students eagerly waiting to join.

As part of this vision, he aims to continue the initiative of “Everywhere you look, UT” murals, intending to have one in every county across the state.
