A major traffic chaos ensued on I-40 in Knox County, Tennessee Sunday afternoon, owing to an overturned camper. The incident thrown traffic into disarray for several hours, causing inconvenience to motorists.
The local city Police Department stated that its officers responded to the crash on I-40 East near mile marker 401 around Sunday afternoon.
The officials reveal that a collision had occurred between a black Ford Mustang and a truck hauling a camper. The impact was grid enough to wrench the camper onto its side and into the median, erupting a significant amount of debris onto the highway.
Although the crash looked severe, authorities are thankful that there were only minor injuries reported. Responding crews spent rigorous hours following the accident to clear the debris from the scene. It was not until later that traffic flow began to return to normalcy on the I-40. As of now, additional information about the accident has not been released.
This is not the first time accidents have blighted the I-40. Among the most recent incidents was a ‘serious’ crash involving a motorcycle. Likewise, just last week, a tractor-trailer hit electric lines in Rocky Top, causing massive traffic delays.
These incidents, though unfortunate, affirm that accidents not only harm those directly involved but also disrupt routine and movements for others in the vicinity.
As investigations continue on the recent overturned camper crash.
