New Amazon Warehouse Set to Open in Knoxville, Creating Hundreds of Jobs and Enhancing Delivery Services

New Amazon Warehouse Set to Open in Knoxville

Knoxville, TN – Excitement is building in Knoxville as the city prepares for the opening of a new Amazon warehouse. The delivery station, located at the site of the former East Towne Mall, is expected to create hundreds of job opportunities just in time for the holiday season. While there is no exact opening date yet, hiring is scheduled to start approximately 30 days before the site launches.

What to Expect from the New Facility

This 219,000-square-foot delivery station will be Amazon’s second facility in East Tennessee. It will complement an existing robot-equipped fulfillment center that opened in October 2023 at 4101 S. Singleton Station Road in Alcoa. The new station is being designed to enhance Amazon’s last-mile delivery operations, making the final step in the distribution process quicker and more efficient for customers in the Tennessee Valley.

The Knoxville Chamber of Commerce noted that this facility aims to speed up service for local residents. Team members working at the delivery station will have various responsibilities, including loading conveyor belts and staging deliveries that are set to be picked up by drivers.

Job Opportunities and Pay

Individuals looking for employment with Amazon can expect competitive pay starting at $17 per hour. The positions span both full-time and part-time roles, making it an attractive opportunity for many job seekers in the area. This job opening comes as the retail giant continues to expand its operations in Tennessee.

According to Amazon’s Public Relations Manager, Divina Mims, prospective employees can sign up for job alerts at amazon.com/jobs to stay updated on job postings in their region.

Supporting a Green Initiative

In addition to providing job opportunities, the new Knoxville delivery station will support Amazon’s growing fleet of electric vehicles. The company has made significant commitments in its efforts to go green, having deployed over 15,000 electric vehicles across the United States. This new facility will play a role in Amazon’s goal to have at least 10,000 electric vehicles in operation by 2022.

The Bigger Picture

The opening of this delivery station is part of Amazon’s larger strategy to improve its logistical capabilities across the nation. Being located in a strategic area assists the company in meeting customer demand, especially during peak shopping periods like the holiday season.

As the city prepares for this new development, residents are encouraged to stay informed about job opportunities and take advantage of the potential for new work. The opening of this Amazon delivery station is a significant step forward for Knoxville’s economy.

In summary, the new Amazon warehouse in Knoxville represents a major opportunity for local job seekers while enhancing the company’s delivery capabilities in the region. With competitive wages, numerous job openings, and a focus on sustainability, the upcoming facility is highly anticipated by both residents and the company.
