Knoxville Prepares for the 99th Annual Veterans Day Parade on November 11, 2024

Knoxville Gears Up for Its Spectacular 99th Veterans Day Parade!

Hey there, Knoxville! Are you ready to honor our brave men and women in uniform? This year, the city is all set to host its 99th Veterans Day Parade on Monday, November 11, 2024. The parade is set to march down Gay Street, kicking off at 10:45 a.m. and is sure to be a fantastic event that you won’t want to miss!

Parade Details You Need to Know

Organized by the American Legion Post 2 with the help of the City of Knoxville’s Office of Special Events, this parade promises to be a heartfelt tribute to our veterans. And guess what? Whether it’s raining or shining, the show must go on!

If you’re planning to head downtown to watch the parade, here are some important details you should keep in mind:

  • Road closures will kick off at 8 a.m. for E. Hill Avenue (between Hall of Fame Drive and Gay Street), and Main Street (between Walnut and Gay streets).
  • At 9 a.m., Market Street (between Union and Clinch avenues) will close along with Union Avenue (between Walnut and Gay streets).
  • By 10:15 a.m., Gay Street (between Main Street and E. Fifth Avenue) will also be closed.
  • Don’t worry, all roads should be reopened by 12:30 p.m. after the festivities wrap up!

No Parking Alert! Poor parking space! On-street parking on Gay Street will be out of commission starting at 7 a.m. — so plan accordingly. However, there’s some good news! City-owned garages and metered parking outside the parade zone will be free all day in celebration of Veterans Day. So grab your friends and family, and get ready to celebrate!

A Colorful Celebration

As if the parade wasn’t enough, keep your eyes peeled for the magnificent red, white, and blue lights on the Henley Bridge that will glow overnight on November 11. It’s another special way to bring the community together in honor of those who have served.

Other Exciting Events on the Horizon

While you’re in a festive mood, mark your calendars for the upcoming East Tennessee Children’s Hospital Fantasy of Trees, presented by Axle Logistics. This enchanting holiday event will take place at the Knoxville Convention Center from November 27 – December 1st. It’s an event filled with holiday spirit that you won’t want to miss!

Give Back, Get Involved!

In the spirit of giving, the Light the World Giving Machines will pop up in Downtown Knoxville starting November 20th, stationed across from DiCarlo’s Pizza on S. Gay Street until December 3rd. These machines will allow you to donate items that will benefit those in need – what a wonderful way to spread love this holiday season!

A Special Treat for First Responders

And let’s not forget our first responders! On November 20th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be a FREE lunch at Jackson Terminal for all law enforcement officers, firefighters, and first responders. It’s their time to shine and enjoy a delicious meal, thanks to our grateful community!

Win Big with G Media!

Oh, and guess what? G Media, in collaboration with knox news talk 98.7, is giving away the ultimate Tennessee Titans experience! You could win 4 suite tickets to see the Titans face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars on December 8th! Imagine all that excitement!

So there you have it, folks! Knoxville is bustling with festivities this November. Whether you’re coming out for the parade or taking part in all the community events, it’s going to be a vibrant month full of celebration and honor.

See you out there in the heart of Knoxville!
