Knoxville Gears Up for 99th Annual Veterans Day Parade with Exciting Celebrations!

Knoxville Prepares for Spectacular 99th Annual Veterans Day Parade!

Well folks, it’s that time of year again! Knoxville is buzzing with excitement as the 99th annual Veterans Day Parade rolls into town this coming Monday, November 11th. Rain or shine, it’s set to be a heartwarming celebration honoring our brave veterans!

Parade Details You Need to Know

Mark your calendars because things kick off bright and early. Participants will start the parade at 10:45 a.m., with road closures beginning at 8 a.m. to ensure a smooth and safe experience for all attendees. So, if you’re planning on driving into downtown Knoxville that day, you might want to take a different route!

The city of Knoxville has laid out a detailed plan for those attending. To make things easier for everyone, they’ve released a list of the roads you’ll want to avoid:

  • Gay Street will close between Main Street and E. Fifth Avenue starting at 10:15 a.m.
  • Further road closures will begin around 9 a.m..

Don’t worry! All roads are scheduled to reopen by 12:30 p.m., so you won’t be stuck for long. But if you’re parking, be aware that on-street parking on Gay Street and areas like Market Street, Union, and Wall avenues will be unavailable from 7 a.m..

Parking Perks for Veterans Day

Here’s the good news! To honor our veterans, parking in city-owned garages and metered spots outside of the parade zone will be free on Monday. Such a lovely way to appreciate those who have dedicated their lives to serving our country!

Get Ready for a Day of Celebration!

The historic parade is organized by the American Legion Post 2 along with the support of the City of Knoxville’s Office of Special Events. Expect to see floats, marching bands, and lots of smiling faces as the community comes together to show their appreciation.

Gather your friends and family, grab your flags, and head down to downtown Knoxville for a day filled with pride and gratitude. Whether you bring a cozy blanket or a lawn chair, you’re sure to enjoy the festivities while soaking up the spirit of community and patriotism.

Be Prepared for All Weather!

As always, the weather can be a mixed bag. So, keep an eye on the forecast leading up to the big day. Bring an umbrella just in case or dress in layers to stay comfy—after all, nothing can dampen the jubilant atmosphere of honoring our veterans!

Let’s Honor Our Heroes

Don’t miss this chance to pay tribute to the heroes who have given so much for our freedom. Knoxville’s Veterans Day Parade promises to be a wonderful opportunity to bring the community together. So, gather your loved ones and join in the festivities!

As Knoxville gears up for this cherished tradition, let’s be reminded of the sacrifices made by our veterans. It’s a celebration not just of history, but of the community we are all proud to be a part of. See you on Monday!
