Exciting New Welcome Center with Solar Panels Set to Open at Knoxville’s Sunsphere on November 20

Exciting Changes Coming to Knoxville’s Sunsphere!

Knoxville, TN is buzzing with excitement as the city prepares to unveil an impressive addition to one of its most iconic landmarks – the Sunsphere. On November 20, the city will cut the ribbon on the brand new welcome center that promises to not only enhance visitor experiences but also embrace a sustainable future.

Welcome Center and Solar Innovation

What’s all the buzz about? Well, beyond just the charming welcome center, the highlight of this project is the specially designed canopy that will house a striking array of solar panels. That’s right! These panels will harness solar power to energize the venue, showcasing the city’s commitment to renewable energy. Backed by Chroma Energy Group, this solar array is a nod to the 1982 World’s Fair’s slogan: “Energy Turns the World.”

Ed Rottmann, the CEO of Chroma Energy Group, expressed excitement for this project that stands at the heart of downtown Knoxville. He said, “As Knoxville continues to position itself as a clean energy hub for businesses and residents, Chroma is honored to take part in this pivotal project.” He believes this installation won’t just generate clean electricity but also serves as a fantastic educational tool, demonstrating the elegance and efficiency of incorporating solar power into historic structures.

A Look at the Solar Array

Curious about the specifics? The welcome center’s canopy will sport 30 solar panels, each boasting a capacity of 7.7 kilowatts. Together, these panels are projected to produce around 10,000 kilowatt-hours of power each year. That’s enough energy to keep things buzzing within the welcome center and beyond!

Join the Celebration!

So, if you’re in the Knoxville area, mark your calendars for November 20! The open house will invite everyone to come see the new welcome center – and don’t forget to check out the impressive solar panels above. It’s a wonderful chance to learn about renewable energy and see how the city is evolving with the times.

What Else is Happening in Knoxville?

The excitement in Knoxville doesn’t stop at the Sunsphere! Our music scene is also heating up. Country superstar Morgan Wallen has just clinched his 15th career No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart with his hit “Lies Lies Lies.” That’s right; it’s a record-setting feat for Wallen, being the first artist to notch five No. 1s in a single year since the chart began in January 1990. What a moment for country music!

Additionally, Lady A’s Charles Kelley has opened up about his own journey with sobriety in a touching episode of the new Hulu docuseries, “It’s All Country”. He shared how his struggles affected his marriage and music career, and how he’s now stronger for it. It’s a story of courage and resilience that resonates deeply with fans.

In case you missed it, the winner of the 2016 season of NBC’s The Voice, Sundance Head, makes headlines after a hunting accident left him hospitalized. Although he’s in stable condition, our thoughts are with him for a swift recovery.

Living the Country Dream

And let’s not forget about rising star Drake Milligan, who recently returned from a tour overseas. He was thrilled to discover just how many country music fans there are around the globe, making connections and sharing his music. This just shows that no matter where you go, country music transcends borders!

The Future Looks Bright

As Knoxville continues to grow and innovate, the new welcome center at the Sunsphere stands as a symbol of progress and sustainability. With exciting developments in the music scene and a strong community spirit, there has never been a better time to be part of what’s happening in Knoxville!
