In the heart of Knoxville, excitement fills the air with the upcoming community events, but the residents are also grappling with a recent incident that has left many concerned. On Sunday evening, around 7:30 p.m., a shooting occurred on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, which led local detectives to release images of a vehicle they suspect was involved in the incident.
The Knoxville Police Department has been hard at work collecting evidence and piecing together what transpired. Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle, which appears to be a GMC Yukon, firing shots at another car near the intersection of Lakeside Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. Unfortunately, during this troubling event, a 41-year-old man was shot in the leg while outside of his home, causing alarm in the community.
The police are asking anyone with information regarding the shooting or the vehicle to come forward. They have encouraged residents and witnesses to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at 865-215-7165. One of the comforting things to note is that tipsters can remain anonymous, ensuring that anyone who has information can share it without fear of exposure.
