It was around 7:30 PM when shots rang out in the area of Lakeside Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. A 41-year-old man, who was simply outside his home, was struck in the leg. Luckily, the injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening, but it surely sent a wave of shock through the community.
According to reports from the police, the victim explained that the chaos began when two vehicles were exchanging fire. The sound of gunshots echoed as they passed by, leading to the unfortunate injury of the innocent bystander. KPD jumped into action, arriving at the scene just ten minutes later to assess the situation and gather evidence.
Following the initial investigation, police officers were able to locate one of the vehicles involved in the shooting on nearby Mississippi Avenue. They took immediate action and detained the two occupants of that vehicle for questioning. However, police are still looking for more information, particularly concerning a GMC Yukon that was seen in the area.
