Knoxville is gearing up for a tail-wagging good time as the Smokin’ Salmon Swim Team prepares to host the 3rd annual Pooch Plunge this Saturday, September 7, 2024. Dog lovers in the area can look forward to a fantastic pool party dedicated entirely to their furry friends. The event will run from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Allen Rosen Aquatic Center, located at the Arnstein Jewish Community Center, 6800 Deane Hill Drive, Knoxville, TN 37919.
This year’s Pooch Plunge promises activities for all pups, whether they prefer to dive into the water or relax on grass. The event features a large swimming pool for the dogs that love to swim, as well as a separate shallow baby pool for smaller breeds. Additionally, a spacious grassy area is available for dogs that would rather stay dry. With all this excitement, owners can expect just as much fun while watching their dogs enjoy their splashy adventure.
Event coordinator Kaleigh McVety, who is a veterinarian and a parent on the swim team, emphasizes that everyone is welcome. Whether you have a dog or just want to support the cause, all are invited to come out, enjoy the festivities, and help raise funds for a great cause. “Please come out and enjoy yourselves while donating to a great cause!” says McVety.
For the humans attending, there will be plenty of enjoyable features as well. The atmosphere will be lively with music, food trucks, and various vendors to explore. This makes the Pooch Plunge not just an event for dogs, but a gathering for community members to connect and have fun together.
The Smokin’ Salmon Swim Team is part of a family-oriented summer swim program for kids aged 5 to 18, organized by the Knoxville Jewish Alliance. The program focuses on helping young swimmers grow to their fullest potential, fostering an environment of team spirit and camaraderie. Coaches work closely with each swimmer, ensuring they receive the personal attention and encouragement they need to improve their skills.
The proceeds from the Pooch Plunge go to benefit the Smokin’ Salmon swim team, which not only offers swimming lessons but also promotes healthy competition and teamwork among its members. This fund helps maintain the quality of the program and supports future activities for the young swimmers.
The Knoxville Jewish Alliance plays a pivotal role in the community, running not just swim programs but also offering numerous other services and events. At the Arnstein Jewish Community Center, there is a variety of programs including classes, cultural events, charitable opportunities, and more. The building boasts impressive facilities such as an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, and spaces for social gatherings.
Whether you have a four-legged friend or simply want to soak up the atmosphere, the Pooch Plunge on September 7 is expected to be a wonderful day out. Registration and additional details can be found online at the Knoxville community association’s registration page. Set your calendars and get ready for a paw-sitively delightful day!
