Knoxville Preps for November 5th Election: What You Need to Know!

Hey there, Knoxville! As we gear up for the big day on November 5, 2024, the excitement is in the air, and the Election Commission has a few friendly reminders for everyone ready to cast their ballots. Let’s dive right into what you need to know before you hit the polls!

Absentee Ballots: Don’t Panic!

If you’ve requested an absentee ballot but haven’t received it by Election Day, don’t worry! You can still make your voice heard. Just head on over to your designated Election Day precinct, and ask for a provisional ballot to cast your vote. The polls are open from 8 AM to 8 PM, so you have plenty of time to get there. To check where to go, simply click over to this link.

Hand-Deliver Your Ballot!

  • 501 West Main Street, Knoxville, 37902
  • 1237 Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, 37950

Just make sure you get there by 4 PM on Tuesday to have your ballot hand-stamped with postage. After that, the Election Commission will collect all last-minute ballots from the USPS at those locations.

What Do You Need to Vote? Don’t Forget Your ID!

Now, before you step out the door, make sure you have your photo ID! You need a valid photo ID issued by the State of Tennessee, like a driver’s license or a passport from the Federal Government. And remember, IDs from other states won’t cut it here—Tennessee has its rules! Election workers will ask for your ID before handing over your ballot.

Where’s Your Voting Precinct?

If you’re scratching your head wondering where to vote, we’ve got you covered! Just hop onto www.knoxvotes.org and click the “Where Do I Vote?” box on the front page. Enter your address, and voilà! You’ll find your assigned polling place in no time.

Heads Up on New Polling Places!

And a quick note for those who might be used to voting at certain spots: some polling places have changed since the last election! Here’s a rundown of the venues that are no longer polling places:

  • Boys and Girls Club, 381 McConnell Street
  • Karns Middle School, 2925 Gray Hendrix Road
  • Solway Church of God, 3317 Solway Rd
  • Shoreline Church, 9635 Westland Drive
  • Farragut Town Hall, 11408 Municipal Center Drive

Check the website for the new locations if you’re in any of these areas!

Important Reminders

Remember, if you’re in line by 8 PM on Election Day, you’ll still get your chance to vote! So don’t stress if it looks like you’ll be cutting it close. Bring your ID and your excitement to make a difference!

Oh, and before we wrap up, a little treat for our beloved first responders! On Wednesday, November 20th, there’s a free lunch for all law enforcement, firefighters, and first responders from 11 AM to 2 PM at Jackson Terminal, located at 213 Jackson Ave.

So there you have it, Knoxville! Wheel your way to the polls, grab your friends, and let’s make our voices count. Happy voting!
