Knoxville Rallies Together for Hurricane Helene Relief
In the heart of Knoxville, Tennessee, something wonderful is happening. The Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union (KTVAECU) has stepped up in a big way to help local victims of Hurricane Helene, and the community is coming together like never before. It’s a heartwarming sight to see how people can unite to support those in need, especially during tough times like these.
A Special Donation Drive
On September 27, 2024, KTVAECU launched a special “Lend-A-Hand” Donation Account to collect cash contributions specifically aimed at assisting those impacted by the hurricane. This initiative is a beacon of hope for many, and the response has been nothing short of amazing. In just under a week, Members of the credit union rallied together to pour in their donations, and KTVAECU even matched a whopping $25,000 of those contributions. This generous spirit has led to an impressive total of $120,000 in cash donations, all of which will be sent directly to Second Harvest of East Tennessee. What a powerful display of kindness!
Immediate Community Support
This remarkable amount of money is set to provide immediate assistance to local communities, offering vital support to families affected by the hurricane in both East Tennessee and Western North Carolina. Charlotte Havely, the Vice President of Marketing at KTVAECU, expressed the emotions many locals are feeling, saying, “This region is our home. We’re heartbroken by the unprecedented effect Hurricane Helene has had on our neighbors, and we hope our efforts will bring relief and comfort.” It’s clear that the credit union is dedicated to making a lasting difference.
Beyond Cash Donations
But the support didn’t stop there! KTVAECU also took the initiative to donate essential supplies to first responders in the hardest-hit areas of Cocke and Unicoi Counties. Items like diapers, masks, water, hand sanitizer, and trash bags were delivered to aid in the relief efforts. This forward-thinking approach displays the incredible commitment KTVAECU has to both its Members and the community at large.

The collective relief efforts from KTVAECU are expected to exceed an astounding $200,000.
