Knoxville Celebrates the Release of Adventure Film ‘Treasure Trackers’

Knoxville’s Film Scene Shines with New Release “Treasure Trackers”

As the leaves change and the air turns crisp, there’s something magical about strolling through the streets of Knoxville. Many folks will tell you that on a sunny day while walking across Gay Street Bridge, it feels just like a scene out of a movie. Well, it turns out that Knoxville truly is film-worthy, and a new movie called “Treasure Trackers” is set to prove just that! Filmed in spring 2022 right here in our vibrant city, this delightful adventure film will be available for streaming starting October 1.

What’s the Plot?

“Treasure Trackers” centers on a middle school girl named Leah who moves to a charming small town known as Carterville. Almost immediately, Leah and her new buddies embark on an exciting quest to find the town’s legendary hidden gold. But there’s a twist: a spooky curse haunts the treasure, threatening any who dare to disturb it! The film stars Cooper Tomlinson, Charity Rose, and Julie Oliver-Touchstone, all bringing their talents to this enchanting tale.

Cinematic Knoxville

One of the film’s co-directors, Nate Garcia, shared how vital Knoxville’s beautiful landscapes were to the mood of the film. “It made it special because, I mean, Knoxville is gorgeous,” he commented. “All this area is beautiful, and it added to the spooky environment to be able to shoot it here.” How awesome is it that our very own city can contribute to creating such a delightful film environment?

The Sights of East Tennessee

Several iconic East Tennessee landmarks were featured in “Treasure Trackers.” For one memorable scene, the directors stumbled upon a magical spot at Ijams Nature Center, which turned out to be 15 minutes away from the main hiking path! The crew had to hike in with all their equipment packed and ready to shoot. Talk about dedication!

Tradition Meets Modern Soundtrack

Beyond its stunning visuals, “Treasure Trackers” also boasts a captivating soundtrack. Composer Robin Hoffman had the pleasure of collaborating with a 90-piece symphony orchestra from Bratislava in Europe. The score is rich with grand melodies and an orchestral feel, reminiscent of the adventure films we loved from the ’80s and ’90s. According to Hoffman, these arrangements really amplify the storytelling experience, creating that classic adventure movie ambiance!

A Welcoming Crew!

It’s not just Knoxville’s breathtaking locations that contributed to the film’s success; the warmth of its people played a significant role too. Director Drew Garcia noted the positive energy on the set, stating, “The vibes were really, really high on set.” He contrasted his experience in Knoxville with other film towns, noting how a lot of the passion sometimes gets lost. Here, he felt an undeniable camaraderie among the crew. “There was never any complaining, and the sense of camaraderie was very, very strong,” he expressed.

Time for the Premiere!

Excitement built as “Treasure Trackers” premiered in Knoxville at the Regal Riviera theater on September 17. Mark your calendars because starting October 1, you can purchase this fun adventure on Fandango at Home and Apple TV. It’s an opportunity to support local talent and showcase the beauty of our city on screen!

So if you’re looking for a feel-good movie that captures the essence of Knoxville and adds a dash of adventure and mystery, “Treasure Trackers” just might be the perfect pick for your next movie night!
