Exciting Updates in Knoxville This September
Knoxville is buzzing with activity as we dive into September, and there are plenty of events and new places to check out. Whether you’re an art lover, foodie, or just looking for some fun in the city, there’s something for everyone this month.
First Friday Art Walk
Today is First Friday! This event starts now and runs until 9 PM. It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy the art scene, as local galleries and artists showcase their work. This month also features a First Friday Block Party with lots of music, food, and fun on the streets. Do note that the 100 block of Gay Street will be closed from 4 to 10 PM for the event. Make sure to plan your route if you’re driving!
If you’re heading down to the Jackson Avenue Block Party, keep an eye out for representatives from the Mayor’s Maker Council. They are there to promote Knoxville’s creative community, so stop by and say hello!
Knox Asian Festival
This weekend, on Sunday, September 8, the 11th Knox Asian Festival will take place at World’s Fair Park from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM. This festival truly celebrates the diverse Asian cultures in our community, featuring traditional costumes, delicious food, dance performances, and music. A ticket to enter the festival costs $3 per person, which helps support the event. Kids under the age of 12 get in for free!
This year, the festival kicks off with an Asian Cultural Parade, starting at the Water Fountain on the Festival Lawn and ending at the Amphitheater stage. You won’t want to miss out; the parade starts promptly at 10:30 AM. Visitors can look forward to the returning favorite, Ninja ASHURA, famous for their thrilling stage performances involving sword-fighting skills and action-packed displays.
New Eateries to Explore
While you’re downtown, don’t forget to check out some new dining spots. Fiori Bar and Lounge opened its doors in June, and it’s now offering a delicious Sunday brunch from 11 AM to 5 PM. Following closely, The Kennedy, which started serving customers in May, recently upgraded its lunch offerings. It’s the perfect place for a quick bite with new sandwiches and the popular homemade mini corn dogs!
Anniversaries and Celebrations
Also in the spirit of celebration, Nothing Too Fancy is marking its 12th anniversary this month. Known for its themed t-shirts and cool accessories, this family-owned business has become a favorite in Knoxville. Swing by their store on Union Avenue to join the celebration!
Glowing Body Yoga and Healing Arts is also celebrating a milestone, reaching its 16th anniversary. They’ve expanded their services to include new offerings like reflexology and holistic esthetics. Staying active and well-being is the focus here, so make sure to see what they have to offer.
Fresh New Openings
If you are looking for new experiences this month, visit Evolve Yoga, which just opened and is currently hosting introductory specials. Stay updated through their social media platforms to see what’s on offer.
Another exciting addition to Knoxville is Hall of Fame Wine and Spirits at 742 N. Hall of Fame Drive, which celebrated its grand opening on August 29. It’s the first liquor store for owner Meghna Patel, and it promises a great selection of wines and spirits along with game day specials and in-store tastings. This is definitely worth checking out!
Not to forget, the Black Dog has replaced Elst Brewing and is ready to bring more of your favorite brews to the community. They are set to launch a new beer today. So, stop by and show support!
