Knoxville Prepares for 70th Anniversary Celebration of Dogwood Arts with Memorabilia Collection Day

Exciting Times in Knoxville for Dogwood Arts!

Knoxville, TN is buzzing with anticipation as we creep closer to a big celebration happening in 2025—can you believe it’s been seven decades of Dogwood Arts? That’s right! The community staple that has brought us beautiful blooms, art displays, and cherished memories is gearing up for an epic commemorative year, and they want YOU to be a part of it!

Join Us for an Afternoon of Nostalgia!

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 29th, between 2 PM and 6 PM, because that’s when the Dogwood Arts team is hosting a special event called ‘Dogwood Memorabilia Collection Day’ at the ORNL Federal Credit Union Northshore Branch, located at 2077 Town Center Blvd, Knoxville, TN 37922. This isn’t just any ordinary collection event; it’s a chance for the Knoxville community to share their stories and prepare for a special exhibition that will run from March 7 to April 18, 2025 in the Dogwood Gallery.

What’s the Goal?

The purpose of this collection day is simple—Dogwood Arts wants to gather memorabilia that tells the story of their rich history, viewed through the eyes of the community that shaped it. If you have collected any souvenirs, be it prints, shirts, buttons, photo albums, or even cookbooks that carry the essence of Dogwood Arts, they would love to see them. Your cherished items could be featured in the upcoming exhibition, showcasing the wonderful legacy of this beloved organization.

Now, for those worried about parting with their prized possessions—don’t fret! The Dogwood Arts team understands that memories can be tough to let go of. If you prefer to hold onto your items, they will be offering scanning services for photos and articles on-site. So, you can keep those memories close while still contributing to this community-driven celebration.

What Will Happen to the Items Collected?

It’s important to note that anything you choose to leave with Dogwood Arts will not be returned, as they aim to utilize as much as possible in the exhibition. Nonetheless, any items that don’t make it into the show will be archived safely in the Dogwood Arts historical collection, which is proudly held at the University of Tennessee. Isn’t it fantastic to know that your treasures could help tell the story of Dogwood Arts for generations to come?

Can’t Make It? No Problem!

If you can’t join the fun on the 29th, don’t worry! You can still contribute by dropping off your memorabilia at the Dogwood Arts office any weekday from 10 AM to 5 PM until the end of the year. The office is located at 123 W. Jackson Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37902 in the Old City. Have questions? Feel free to call them at (865) 637-4561 or shoot an email to info@dogwoodarts.com for more information.

A Day of Sharing and Memories

This collection day promises to be a delightful afternoon of nostalgia, where community members can swap stories and reminisce about their favorite Dogwood Memories. There will even be an opportunity to share your experiences on camera for a special video that will be part of the exhibition! Imagine being part of something bigger, helping to weave together the story of our vibrant community through art and memories.

So, whether you’re a long-time fan of Dogwood Arts or just someone who loves sharing local stories, head on over to the event on October 29th. Together, let’s make this upcoming celebration as memorable as the journeys we’ve all taken as part of the Dogwood family!
