In Knoxville, Tennessee, the community is coming together to bid farewell to a *bright light* who touched many lives. Rosemary Turner, aged 77, passed away on November 6, 2024. Born on November 11, 1946, in Marion, Indiana, she was the cherished daughter of Glen and Rosemary McDonald. Rosemary’s journey through life was marked by her *deep faith* and commitment to her family and friends.
From a young age, Rosemary displayed her strong character. At just 10 years old, she accepted Christ as her Savior, shaping the foundation of her values and beliefs. After graduating from Jefferson High School in Upland, Indiana, she took a leap of faith—and love—when she married James E. Turner on April 17, 1966. Together, they embarked on a beautiful journey that spanned nearly five decades.
In 1976, the Turner family relocated to sunny Naples, Florida, where Rosemary began working at the *Naples Daily News.* This became the backdrop for a fulfilling career that lasted until her retirement in 2016. But her passion didn’t stop at work—she and Jim became founding members of the Naples Baptist Temple in 1984, where they generously shared their faith and served in various capacities.
In 2022, Rosemary and Jim made the move to Knoxville, finding a new spiritual home at Oak Ridge Baptist Church. This transition didn’t dim her radiant spirit; rather, it spread her kindness to a whole new community. Friends and family were drawn to Rosemary’s *infectious smile* and her *caring nature*. She made it a point to spread the message of God’s love wherever she went, inspiring those around her with uplifting words.
A beloved grandmother, Rosemary enjoyed nothing more than creating precious memories with her family. *Every holiday was a celebration,* filled with games, delicious food, and, most importantly, laughter. Her grandchildren—Morgan, Payton, Lane, and David—were the center of her world. These joyful moments will be treasured by her family for years to come.
Rosemary leaves behind a legacy of love and faith that will forever be cherished. She is survived by her husband, Jim Turner; her son, Brad, and daughter-in-law, Dawn; two sisters, Mona and Susan; along with her four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Sadly, she was preceded in death by her son Steven, her parents, and her brother Glen D. McDonald.
To honor her life, family and friends are invited to gather at Oak Ridge Baptist Church at 1:30 PM on Sunday, November 10, 2024. Services will begin at 2 PM, followed by a burial at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the mission fund at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, ensuring that Rosemary’s spirit of giving continues to make an impact.
As Knoxville and the extended family reflect on Rosemary Turner’s life, they remember not just the loss but the love she shared. Her faith, compassion, and vibrant personality will leave an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory inspire us all to spread kindness and love just as she did.
