Knox Prep, Knoxville’s Newest Charter School, Opens its Doors to Students
Knoxville’s fresh educational institution, Knox Prep, has officially begun its journey. This all-boys charter school is unique to the area and is opening up new possibilities for Knoxville’s youth.
A New Beginning in Knoxville
Knox Prep opened its doors for the first time at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tennessee Valley site, located at 967 Irwin St. It is managed by the same organization that oversees Chattanooga Prep and is designed to create opportunities and a nurturing learning environment.
A Growing School
Initially, the school has enrolled its first batch of 105 sixth graders. The plan going forward is to add a new sixth-grade class each year, gradually increasing the school’s reach until it serves students all the way through high school. By the 2030-2031 school year, Knox Prep is expected to reach its full capacity of 700 students.
Fully Staffed and Ready to Educate
The school is fully staffed with seven dedicated teachers. Brad Scott, the chief executive officer, stated that the team is ready to provide an exceptional learning experience from the very beginning.
Leadership and Experience
Principal Janet Crenshaw leads Knox Prep. She is a 2009 graduate of Emory University and also holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Columbia University. With nine years of experience working with IDEA Public Schools, a national network of charter schools, she brings a wealth of knowledge and a vision for the future to Knox Prep.
The establishment of Knox Prep in Knoxville is a positive move towards expanding educational choices for families, integrating strong leadership, dedicated educators, and a strategic plan for growth.
