Knox County Takes Action as Pothole Season Kicks Off

Hello, Knox County! As we dive into this ever-changing weather season, the roads around our beautiful area are being taken care of by some dedicated folks who are hard at work keeping our travels smooth. Residents can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that, overall, most roads in and around Knox County are in good condition. However, as colder temperatures settle in, the risk of potholes popping up is higher than ever.

Pothole Prevention Measures Underway

Knox County engineers have been proactive in maintaining road surfaces by spreading around 70,000 gallons of brine and a couple hundred tons of salt. While these efforts help prevent ice from forming on the roads, they can inadvertently increase the risk of pothole formation due to the changes in temperature this time of year. As a result, the Knox County Engineering and Public Works crews are mobilizing to patch those pesky potholes across the county.

Your Voice Matters: Report Potholes Effectively

Your vigilance is key when it comes to road safety! If you spot a pothole in your community, there are several ways to report it:

  • Give Knox County a call at 865-215-5800.
  • Download the SeeClickFix mobile app, available on both Android and iPhone.
  • Contact the City of Knoxville’s handy hotline at 311.
  • For potholes located on interstates or state highways, you can call 833-TDOT FIX.

These reporting options ensure that everyone in Knox County has a part to play in keeping our roads safe and well-maintained.

Long-Term Solutions Are on the Horizon

While it’s crucial to patch those potholes, the long-term solution is evident: repaving. Unfortunately, repaving can’t take place just yet, as waiting for warmer temperatures is necessary. But don’t worry, crews are on standby and ready to roll as soon as Mother Nature cooperates!
