Knoxville residents are in for a treat as Hot Birds, the city’s beloved hot chicken joint, prepares to make a move to a new location
From humble beginnings in catering, Islam’s passion for cooking has led him to become a hotspot for authentic hot chicken in Knoxville. His culinary journey started at home, helping his parents in the kitchen during gatherings, where he honed his skills in creating flavorful dishes.
About four years ago, following a layoff from his job and inspired by the success of Hot Birds at events, Islam ventured into the world of hot chicken with his partner, Ashraf Ali. The overwhelming positive response from customers fueled their decision to expand the business.
Hot Birds takes pride in serving hand-slaughtered ( zabihah ) and 100% halal chicken. While their commitment to quality is unwavering, there’s more than meets the eye when it comes to crafting their signature hot chicken taste.
Reflecting on their journey, Islam shared, “We are going to share our recipe. If people want to make it at home, they can do that.”
Choosing Marble City Market as the new home for Hot Birds signifies a new chapter in the restaurant’s growth. Despite considering other options like Kern’s Food Hall, Islam is optimistic about the opportunities that lie ahead.
As Hot Birds prepares to set up shop at Marble City Market, customers can look forward to the same passion for food and exceptional flavors that have made the restaurant a local favorite.
