Knoxville, get ready for an incredible afternoon of music, community, and giving back! On October 20, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Kern’s Food Hall will play host to a heartwarming event called Stuff the Sprinter: Mountain Strong. This joyful gathering, brought to you by the local band The Deep Fakes, in partnership with Mercedes-Benz of Knoxville and Monday Night Brewing, is all about supporting those affected by the recent Hurricane Helene floods in East Tennessee.
This year has brought challenges to many in our community, especially those impacted by unexpected floods. As we come together as neighbors, the goal of this event is to gather essential items that will make a real difference in the lives of those who are struggling. Essential survival necessities such as tents, sleeping bags, blankets, and other vital supplies are greatly needed. A comprehensive list of necessary donations can be found on the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) website.
As if that wasn’t enough to get you excited, no concert would be complete without incredible music! From 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., The Deep Fakes will serenade the crowd with classic hits from the cassette and vinyl eras. So whether you love to tap your toes or just enjoy the tunes, there’s something for everyone!
But wait, there’s more! Kern’s Food Hall will keep everyone entertained with free pumpkin carving (while supplies last), along with thrilling face painting, seasonal beers, and mouth-watering food options. It’s a fantastic way for families and friends to come together in support of a truly worthy cause, all while celebrating the joys of the fall season.
Joel Lay of The Deep Fakes shared his thoughts on the event, saying, “We wanted to do something meaningful to support our neighbors during this tough time. Music has always been about bringing people together, and we hope this event not only uplifts spirits but also helps those who are facing challenges due to the floods.” What a beautiful sentiment!
The band will also be available before and after the concert for interviews, creating a perfect opportunity for the media to showcase the remarkable resilience and community spirit that East Tennessee is known for. Organizers are asking for assistance in promoting the event through community calendars or any coverage that can help spread the word and encourage more donations.
If you have any questions about the event or need more details on the donation guidelines, feel free to reach out to Joel Lay directly at 865-567-2149 or jlay@mbknox.com. Every little bit counts, and your participation can greatly impact those in need.
So mark your calendars, gather your friends and family, and join us on October 20 at Kern’s Food Hall for Stuff the Sprinter: Mountain Strong. Let’s make this a beautiful day filled with music, laughter, and generosity as we work together to support and uplift our community!
