Knoxville, it’s time to celebrate the holiday spirit and *do some good*! This year, the Full Stocking Belgian IPA is here to bring joy and support to our community. This delightful brew is a collaboration between the local favorite, Alliance Brewing Company, and the Empty Stocking Fund, a charity with a heartwarming mission. Together, they’re brewing up some hoppy goodness while also addressing the pressing issue of food insecurity among families in East Tennessee during the holidays.
Since 1912, the Empty Stocking Fund has been working tirelessly to provide holiday meals for families in need throughout East Tennessee. With grocery prices still pretty high, the demand for their help has never been greater. This year, they are aiming to put together 3,050 festive meal baskets, packed full with a 5-pound ham, fresh produce, tasty side dishes, and enough staple items like oatmeal and soup to feed a family of four for a full week. That’s a lot of holiday cheer!
This year’s special brew, the Full Stocking Belgian IPA, was launched on November 4 at Alliance Brewing Company. Chris Morton, the co-owner, expressed his excitement for this unique beer, which isn’t your traditional IPA. Instead, it boasts flavors of candi sugar and fruit, making it both different and approachable for beer lovers. Head brewer Adam Ingle shared that this style has become quite popular among customers over time. He fondly reminisced about its experimental roots, stating, “The Belgo (Full Stocking) was one of our favorite experimental brews from my basement.”
Alliance Brewing Company has already seen enthusiasm from other South Knoxville establishments, with kegs flying off to venues like Southside Garage, South Coast Pizza, and SoKno Taco. And that’s just the start! More businesses will soon join the cause by carrying this festive brew, making it easier for Knoxvillians to enjoy a good beer while supporting their neighbors in need.
Enjoying a pint of the Full Stocking Belgian IPA is just one way to lend a hand. Besides drinking the delicious beer, patrons are encouraged to donate whatever they can to the Empty Stocking Fund. Every dollar matters, particularly because this charity operates with a 100% volunteer-run structure, meaning your contributions go directly to buying high-quality food and essentials for those in need. Local volunteers work their magic every December during a special Distribution Week to ensure families receive these crucial meal baskets.
To make a donation, simply head over to esfknox.org or send checks directly to 2332 News Sentinel Drive, Knoxville TN 37921. The Knoxville-Knox County CAC plays a key role in determining who receives the aid, which means your donations are making a real difference.
It feels especially good to know that while you’re enjoying a tasty beer, you’re also contributing to a noble cause. Whether you’re a long-time supporter of the Empty Stocking Fund or a newcomer eager to join in the fun, coming together as a community during this season is what it’s all about. So, why not gather your friends, head to your favorite local spot carrying the Full Stocking IPA, and toast to the good times ahead? Cheers to making this holiday season a little brighter for those around us!
