Knoxville to Host 12th Annual Fountain City Music Festival Celebrating Local Musicians

Knoxville’s Fountain City Music Festival: A Celebration of Local Talent!

If you find yourself in Knoxville this October, you’re in for a treat! The 12th Annual Fountain City Music Festival is set to take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, and you’re invited to a delightful evening filled with original music performed by the talented members of the Knoxville Songwriters Association (KSA). From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., the Fountain City Branch Library, located at 5300 Stanton Road, will host this fantastic event that aims to showcase the creativity and passion of local musicians.

An Evening to Remember

This isn’t just any concert; it’s a heartfelt thank you from the KSA to the Fountain City community and the wonderful library staff who have been generous in hosting the group’s weekly meetings. Randy Ott, the president of the KSA, expressed it perfectly: “This annual concert of original music is our way of expressing thanks to this community and to the library staff for hosting our weekly meetings.”

The festival promises an evening full of originality and flair, with a diverse range of performers getting the chance to showcase their original songs. Whether you’re a local music enthusiast or someone just looking for a free evening of entertainment, this event is the perfect opportunity to support homegrown talent while enjoying some foot-tapping tunes.

What is KSA?

If you’re new to the area or haven’t heard of the KSA, let’s fill you in! Founded in 1983, the Knoxville Songwriters Association is known as East Tennessee’s largest and most inclusive songwriting organization. It aims to help regional songwriters of all ages and abilities develop their writing and performing skills, as well as gain a better understanding of the music business. Whether you have dreams of penning the next big hit or just love to write tune-filled stories, KSA has something to offer.

Join the Jams!

The KSA gathers every Tuesday evening, starting with a jam session at 5 p.m. in the library’s community room, followed by their official meeting from 6 to 8 p.m.. These meetings are a great chance for members to learn and grow, featuring valuable writing lessons, guest speakers sharing their expertise, and song critiques that help refine musical talents. After attending a couple of meetings, potential members can decide to join the vibrant KSA community, with annual membership dues set at $30 ($15 for those under 21 years old).

You’re Invited!

So, mark your calendar, gather your friends and family, and don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to celebrate music and creativity within our community. Bring your singing voice, your dancing shoes, or just yourself to enjoy a wonderful evening of entertaining performances. The Fountain City Music Festival promises to be a night to remember, showcasing the talent that Knoxville has to offer while expressing gratitude for the support of local libraries.

Let’s make this event a lively and joyous occasion together. See you at the Fountain City Branch Library on October 15th!
