Exciting Week Ahead in Knoxville: Events from August 25 to September 3, 2024

Knoxville is gearing up for an exciting week filled with a range of events and activities perfect for all ages. From yoga classes to live music, and market events to art exhibitions, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in downtown Knoxville. Here’s a quick look at what you can expect from August 25 to September 3, 2024.

Highlights for August 25 (Sunday)

The week kicks off with a plethora of outdoor dining options and vendors open for business. Start your Sunday with a replenishing yoga session at Glowing Body Yoga & Healing Arts, taking place from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM for $45, but advance booking is required.

If you’re interested in a bit of self-care, check out the Self Care Sunday Yoga Class at Ijams Nature Center from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM for $10. The day also features a Gospel Jazz Brunch at 1:00 PM, showcasing live performances for $45.

The artistic community is alive in Knoxville this Sunday with auditions for “The Elephant Man” happening from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Theatre Knoxville Downtown. For movie lovers, don’t miss the showing of “The Wizard of Oz” at Central Cinema at 2:15 PM for $7 to $12.

Events for August 26 (Monday)

As we move into Monday, the Emporium Center will open its doors for the August exhibitions from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. For those who enjoy some creativity, a Drop-in Figure Drawing session takes place at the Knoxville Museum of Art from 10:00 AM to noon for a fee between $12 and $15.

On Wednesday morning, head to the Market Square Farmers’ Market open from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, featuring local produce and goods. Later in the day, the Stammtisch 2024 conversation event at Schulz Bräu Brewing Company at 5:30 PM invites locals to engage in discussions.

Join in for weekly music events at Boyd’s Jig & Reel starting at 7:00 PM, promising a night filled with creativity and jazz.

Exciting Events on August 29 (Thursday)

Thursday brings the grand opening of Hall of Fame Wine & Spirits. Don’t miss out on the Weekly FCP Thirsty Thursday Group Road Ride at 6:00 PM, offering an active evening filled with community spirit.

Later, enjoy a Radical Volunteers event that unravels the history of student activism in Tennessee at 5:30 PM.

Labor Day Weekend and Closing Events

The excitement carries on into the Labor Day weekend where the 11th Annual Big Kahuna Wing Festival at World’s Fair Park from 2:00 PM to 9:30 PM on September 1 is a must-attend. The fun culminates with a range of activities on Labor Day, including a Labor Day Sunflower Festival at Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

As Knoxville welcomes September, there will be something happening at every corner, ensuring the downtown area remains lively and engaging for all local residents and visitors.
