It’s a Vibrant Election Day in Knoxville!

Good morning, Knoxville! What a beautiful day we have to kick off this exciting election process! With the sun shining and spirits soaring, locals are heading to the polls today. If you live in Knox County, be sure to make your voice heard as the polls are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Remember, your vote matters!

Halloween Hangover at Home

While we’ve just turned the calendar page from October, it seems some residents are still riding the Halloween wave! Over in Gibbs, our friend Bobbie Godfrey Wyatt shared a fun tidbit saying, “We’re on candy overload and it’s only 10 a.m.” Sounds like Bobbie is still enjoying the sweet leftovers from trick-or-treating. Hopefully, there’s enough of that candy to share with the neighborhood!

A Birthday Celebration with a Political Twist

Over in East Knox, State Rep. Sam McKenzie is achieving a perfect blend of relaxation and celebration as he enjoys his birthday today. Let’s just call it a big guy in an even bigger chair, taking a moment to appreciate his day while representing the spirit of our community with pride!

Art Lovers Unite at Terra Madre

Calling all art enthusiasts! This weekend, the 14th annual Pottery Show & Sale is happening at Terra Madre. Mark your calendars for November 8-9, 2024, at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, located at 4070 Kingston Pike. Not only will you get to see incredible pottery, but you’ll also have the chance to reconnect with friends and perhaps find some unique gifts for loved ones. Unmissable!

Books and Knowledge at The Bottom

Over on Magnolia Avenue, The Bottom, a unique bookstore and gift shop, has just unveiled something special for November. They’re offering the Bans Off Our Books box, which highlights classic books often challenged or banned. Priced at just $45, this collection includes two banned books along with a fabulous tote to carry them in. Pre-orders are open through November 15, and books will be ready to pick up or ship by November 30th. Don’t wait to grab this essential piece of literary history!

Celebrating Our Community Stewards

Let’s wrap it all up by celebrating the wonderful contributions of local veterans like Sandra Clark. Elected at just 22, she represented North Knox County at the State Constitution Convention of 1971. In her upcoming endeavors, she continues to be an inspiring presence, bringing stories about good folks being great neighbors straight to our community. Thank you, Sandra!

In Conclusion

So, whether you’re traveling to the polls, planning to explore art, diving into books, or making new friends at community workshops—today is just a snapshot of what makes Knoxville a remarkable place to live! Embrace these wonderful opportunities, and let’s continue being great neighbors to one another.
