Hello, Knoxville! It’s an exciting time in our city as early voting began just recently, and let me tell you, folks are definitely making their voices heard! On the very first day of early voting, which was October 16, 2024, a whopping 176,404 people across Tennessee made their way to the polls to cast their votes. That’s quite a turnout, wouldn’t you say?
Home sweet home, Knox County, showed its civic spirit right out of the gate. With 13,059 people stepping up to vote, our community made a statement. The most popular spot for casting ballots was the Farragut location, where 1,942 voters turned out to participate in this important civic duty. On the flip side, if you were hoping for a quieter experience, the Gibbs early voting location had the fewest ballots cast, with just 404 people showing up.
While it’s great to see such enthusiasm, it’s worth noting that this year’s first-day turnout did not break any records. In comparison, back in 2020, a staggering 273,325 voters made their choices known on the first day, marking a 91% increase from 2016. What an incredible leap that was! Overall, in 2020, a grand total of 2,072,932 people participated in early voting throughout Tennessee.
If you haven’t voted yet and you’re planning to take part, there’s plenty of time! Early voting will continue every day from Monday to Saturday until October 31. And don’t forget, if you prefer to vote by mail, you can request absentee ballots until October 29. Remember, the big day is Election Day on November 5 – circle that date!
