Knoxville Prepares for New Amazon Warehouse Set to Boost Local Employment Opportunities

Knoxville Set to Welcome New Amazon Warehouse

Knoxville is gearing up for the arrival of a new Amazon warehouse, which promises to bring hundreds of job opportunities to the local community. Although an official opening date has yet to be announced, Amazon has confirmed that the facility will be ready for the busy holiday season. Hiring is expected to commence approximately 30 days prior to the launch of the delivery station.

Job Opportunities Ahead

According to Amazon Public Relations Manager Divina Mims, the new delivery station will create both full-time and part-time positions. Starting pay is set at $17 an hour, making it an attractive option for job seekers in the area. At the delivery station, team members will be engaged in preparing customer orders for delivery, which includes tasks like loading conveyor belts, transporting items, and staging deliveries for pickup by drivers.

Facility Overview

This new 219,000-square-foot facility is located at the previous site of the East Towne Mall. It is the second Amazon facility to open in East Tennessee, with an automated fulfillment center already operating in Alcoa since last October. The primary purpose of this delivery station is to enhance Amazon’s last-mile delivery operations, which play a crucial role in ensuring that packages reach customers in a timely manner. The station will aid in speeding up service for customers living in the Tennessee Valley.

Modern Delivery Solutions

This new station will also support Amazon’s growing fleet of electric vehicles, which now exceeds 15,000 across the United States. This initiative aligns with Amazon’s commitment to deploy 10,000 electric vehicles in 2022, indicating the company’s focus on environmentally-friendly delivery options.

Community Impact

The introduction of the new Amazon delivery station is expected to have a significant impact on the local economy by creating numerous job opportunities for residents. The creation of jobs at the facility will not only help those seeking employment but also contribute to the overall economic growth of Knoxville.

Conclusion

As the holidays approach, many are excited about the potential job openings at the new Amazon warehouse in Knoxville. With hiring set to begin soon, those looking for work are encouraged to stay alert for job postings in the coming weeks. As Amazon continues to expand its operations, both the company and the local community stand to benefit significantly from this new addition.
