Unemployment Rates on the Rise

First up on our news roundup is the recently released unemployment data from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. It’s a mixed bag out there, folks. The standout county this time is Sevier County, which has the lowest unemployment rate in the state at a cool 2.7%. That’s impressive, right? But here’s the catch: their unemployment rate has increased since August, which seems to be a trend that most of Tennessee is experiencing.

In fact, the report indicated that unemployment rates in 77 counties across the state have climbed. Just five counties saw a decrease, while 13 remained unchanged. On the flip side, if we take a peek at the southeast corner of Tennessee, we can see that McMinn County and Meigs County are feeling the pinch with a 4.7% unemployment rate, ranking them closely at 87 and 89 out of 95 counties. If you or someone you know is on the job hunt, don’t forget about the American Job Center. They have plenty of resources to assist with finding potential job opportunities.
