LaMotte will kick off the day with a presentation at 9:45 a.m. in the chapel. Drawing from his viral TEDx talk, titled “Why Heroes Don’t Change the World,” he invites everyone to explore how real change happens not just through grand gestures but often through the everyday actions of ordinary people. His message, which will surely resonate with many, suggests that we all have a part to play in creating meaningful change in our communities.

Worship and Music

Following the presentation, LaMotte will deliver a sermon during the 11 a.m. worship service. Come back at 1 p.m. for an engaging concert in the sanctuary, where LaMotte will share his enchanting music. His work doesn’t stop there; he also serves as a consultant on peace and justice for the North Carolina Council of Churches. Coming from a long line of Presbyterian ministers, LaMotte’s commitment to making a difference is woven into the fabric of his life. Whether he’s performing with his interfaith music trio, Abraham Jam, or leading community efforts like the “Let’s Be Neighbors” campaign, his focus remains on promoting compassion and understanding among all people.
