Metro Drug Coalition Celebrates Second Anniversary of The Gateway Recovery Center in Knoxville

Anniversary Celebration Event

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Celebrating Recovery Together

On September 23, 2022, the Metro Drug Coalition (MDC) proudly opened The Gateway, a recovery community center designed to assist those on the path to recovery from substance use disorders. Fast forward to today, and this welcoming center has become a beacon of hope for individuals in East Tennessee. Over the past two years, MDC has provided an amazing 70,000 services to support locals battling addiction and striving for better lives.

A Hub for Healing

The Gateway is more than just a building; it’s a vibrant hub filled with life-changing activities. The center offers a wide range of free services tailored to help individuals in recovery. From recovery meetings and yoga classes to sober social events and music therapy, there’s something for everyone! Recently, in April, The Gateway expanded its offerings by opening a fitness center and recreation area, alongside a cozy coffee shop staffed by those in recovery. What a fantastic way to create a supportive community!

Commemorative Bricks to Honor Community Ties

As part of celebrating The Gateway’s second anniversary, the Metro Drug Coalition has launched a special initiative to add 100 engraved commemorative bricks to their patio. This heartwarming campaign invites community members to engrave bricks in honor of someone currently in recovery, in memory of those lost to addiction, in support of The Gateway, or even with a personal message. The aim is to reach this goal within the 100 days between the anniversary and the end of the year.

Webster Bailey, the executive director of MDC, believes that this initiative will not only beautify the patio but also serve as a touching reminder of the power of community in the journey of recovery. He emphasizes, “Every brick tells a story and helps support our ongoing work which makes a significant difference in people’s lives.” All proceeds from the brick sales go directly to supporting the crucial services offered at The Gateway.

Accessing Help at The Gateway

Anyone currently in recovery or seeking help from substance use disorders is warmly welcomed at The Gateway. You can drop by anytime during the week, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and guess what? No appointments are necessary! The center understands that sometimes, you need support right when you feel it, and they’re ready to provide it. What’s even better is that additional recovery meetings are available on weekends, ensuring that no one feels alone in their journey.

Get Involved and Make a Difference

If you’re interested in participating in the commemorative brick fundraiser, take a moment to visit the Metro Drug Coalition’s website where you can find all the details. It’s a beautiful way to create lasting memories and show your support for a cause that helps so many individuals rebuild their lives.

In summary, The Gateway stands as a powerful symbol of hope and recovery within the Knoxville community. With its plethora of resources, supportive environment, and ongoing initiatives like the commemorative bricks, it encourages everyone on their journey to recovery. Remember, you are never alone, and help is just around the corner at The Gateway.
