Heavy Rain Forecast for Brevard: What to Expect!

As we step into the weekend here in Brevard, residents are gearing up for some serious weather. The forecast is calling for a steady rain that could be heavy at times. Get ready, folks, because it looks like Mother Nature is planning a big splash! 🌧️

Rainy Days Ahead

The National Weather Service has indicated that we can expect anywhere from 3 to 5 inches of rain starting today, continuing into the weekend. Yes, you read that right – a whopping 100% chance of rain! So if you planned on being outside, it might be a good idea to rethink those plans and find something fun to do indoors instead.

Temperatures will be relatively mild, with a high of around 69°F and lows dipping to about 67°F in the evening. With east-southeast winds ranging from 5 to 10 mph and increasing to 20-30 mph as the weekend progresses, it’s going to feel a bit breezy as well. So, if you do have to head out, be sure to grab your raincoat and don’t forget your umbrella!

Potential for Flooding

While rain can be nice for replenishing our gardens, this amount has raised some concern for potential flooding. The authorities are advising everyone to remain cautious, especially in low-lying areas that are prone to flooding. It might be a wise move to stay tuned to local news updates and prepare for the wet weather just in case things get a little too soggy.

Weekend Plans?

If you were thinking about making outdoor plans for this weekend, you might want to hit the brakes on that idea. Instead, this could be a great opportunity to cozy up at home with a good book, catch up on your favorite shows, or even try out that new recipe you’ve been saving. Why not turn the rainy day into a chance for some relaxation or family fun? ☕📚

Tennis Tournament Recap

While the rain may be washing away some outdoor plans, it definitely didn’t dampen the spirits at the inaugural Maryville College Fall Tennis Invitational which took place recently. The event saw our very own Brevard College men’s and women’s tennis teams competing fiercely for top positions in a total of 91 matches against teams from Maryville, Johnson University of Tennessee, and Truett McConnell University.

Starting on Friday, the Tornados showcased their skills on the court, with athletes like Hayden LeBlanc and Bryce Bernitt scoring impressive singles wins. All in all, the men’s team brought home a total of 7 singles victories on the first day! The women’s team shined too, with notable performances by Hannah Hersh and Madison Bowen.

As the tournament progressed, our teams continued to gather momentum, and by the end of the event, multiple players had won their respective flights. What a fantastic display of talent! This weekend, they will move on to compete in the ITA Division III Men’s & Women’s South Regional Championships in Mount Berry, Georgia. Let’s cheer them on as they step onto the court once again!

Stay Safe and Dry!

As we brace for this rainy weather, let’s prioritize safety and comfort. Stay dry, keep an eye on updates, and don’t hesitate to help neighbors who may need a little extra care during this wet spell. We can make the best out of a rainy weekend, so let the cozy vibes roll! 🌧️💖
