Join the Fun at the Sharps Chapel Fall Festival!
If you’re in or around Sharps Chapel, Tennessee, make sure to mark your calendars for a delightful event happening on Saturday, September 28. This charming little community, nestled just north of Knoxville in southwest Union County, is gearing up for its annual Fall Festival — a perfect weekend outing for families looking to enjoy some fun together!
A Bit of History
Sharps Chapel has quite the history! Established by Revolutionary War veteran Henry Sharp, this rural community began as a 700-acre land grant. It was known as “Clinch River” until the introduction of a post office back in 1869. Over the years, it has seen various developments, including being home to workers during the Civilian Conservation Corps that aided in the construction of the Norris Dam. The community is also home to the historic residence of Jacob Sharp, who is the son of the founder — and guess what? It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places!
What to Expect at the Festival
Now, let’s get to the exciting part! The Fall Festival will run from noon until 9 p.m. and promises a fun-filled day for everyone. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, you’re in for a treat!
One of the standout attractions will be a vintage car show, where you can admire classic cars that carry a piece of history. The children’s pageant will also capture the hearts of many, showcasing the young talents of the community. And if you’re creative, don’t miss out on the scarecrow building contest — a unique way to unleash your artistic flair while contributing to a fundraiser for the Union County American Legion.
In addition to these highlights, visitors can groove to live music performed by local bands while browsing through a variety of vendor stalls selling unique crafts and goods. And let’s not forget about the tantalizing offerings from 15 different food trucks, where you can indulge in diverse cuisines and satisfy your taste buds!
Activities for the Little Ones
The Kids Zone is truly a treasure trove of fun for the younger crowd! Children will love the bounce house, the miniature pumpkin patch, and a host of carnival games. And what’s a festival without a petting zoo? Kids can get up close and personal with some fluffy friends. Plus, there’s a beauty pageant and a cowboy contest specifically for kids up to 14 years old, ensuring there’s no shortage of entertainment!
How to Get There
Planning your trip? The easiest way to get to the festival is by taking Maynardville Pike—that’s Highway 61/33, heading north. After you cross the Clinch River Bridge, simply turn left onto Sharps Chapel Road, and you’ll find your way to Sharps Chapel Park, where the festival will be held.
