New Mural Project Brightens Up Knoxville

Knoxville is set to become even more vibrant as a new mural project adds a splash of color to the city. The KnoxWalls initiative is underway, and it’s transforming the Emory Place area with stunning artwork that will cover more than 7,000 square feet of wall space. This exciting project is organized by several local organizations, including Dogwood Arts, Visit Knoxville, and the Lilienthal Gallery. They’ve teamed up to bring local and national artists together to create a unique art installation.

Artwork by Diverse Artists

The KnoxWalls project features a selection of talented artists, with a total of 13 individuals chosen from over 90 submissions. Among them are four local Knoxville artists, as well as artists from places like Oakland, California; Denver, Colorado; and Detroit, Michigan. This mix of voices and styles promises to create a rich artistic experience for all visitors to Emory Place.

So far, three artists have completed their murals, and three additional murals are currently in progress. This mural project is part of the larger Art in Public Places initiative, which aims to enhance public spaces across the city with beautiful and engaging art. Artists have been inspired by the famous Wynwood Walls district in Miami, creating an outdoor street art museum feel.
